本剧以Alan Furst的著名小说为蓝本，由获得艾美奖的编剧Dick Clement和Ian La Frenais改编剧本。 1914年，整个欧洲被希特勒纳粹政权的阴影所笼罩。在一战中获得高级勋章的上校Mercier（大卫·田纳特 David Tennant 饰）作为一名武官驻扎在波兰。上校从自己的德国线人Edvard那里获得情报，似乎希特勒纳粹正在秘密策划一个入侵波兰的计划。Mercier在执行任务时差点被杀，千辛万苦逃脱。而法国官僚Jourdain对Mercier成见颇深，唯恐Mercier此番作为会影响外交局面进一步紧张化。巴黎律师Anna（詹尼特·蒙特戈里 Janet Montgomery 饰）和Mercier也在这个危险的时期互生爱意。但Anna还有一名担任政治记者的丈夫Maxim有不可分割的关系。三个人之间的纠缠的关系也随着战争的开始越发紧张......。Behind the Movement is a unique and fast-paced retelling of how Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat launched the history-making Montgomery Bus Boycott.
