三岛春来（寺岛拓笃配音）是一位非常平凡的高中一年级生，因为一本名为《人鱼的王子》的绘本而对游泳这项运动产生了兴趣，继而加入了学校的游泳部。实际上，春来一直默默的喜欢着名为真四季美春（神田沙也加配音）的女孩，正是这个热爱读书的女孩给了他那本改变了他命运的绘本。 本田塔羽（铃村健一配音）是班级里公认的轻浮男，但实际上，在轻浮的外表之下，他的个性却反而非常的认真。三桥真珠（钉宫理惠配音）是一位标准的优等生，在严格的家庭之中长大。命运让这两个性格截然相反的人相遇了，看着真珠的样子，本田感到内心里的感情正在不断地悸动。。本片荣获首届留守与儿童国际电影节最佳纪录片，并被香港中文大学永久收藏。 本片以湖南省一群备战中考的重点班孩子展开讲述。他们中大部分是留守儿童，读书成为摆脱自身命运的唯一出路。但处于青春期的他们，面对繁重的功课、备考的压力、资金的不足以及家庭的教育的缺失站在了人生的十字路口上......
